Having participated in multiple VOSH trips to developing countries, I was keenly aware of the enormous unmet need of vision care where it is so desperately needed. Those trips were impactful and fulfilling, but I always felt they were a temporary band-aid. When Dr. Holden first presented the idea of Optometry Giving Sight to Vision Source Administrators, I was 100% committed to the cause. Rather than giving them a fish, let’s teach them how to fish! Fortunately, I am surrounded by amazing colleagues and staff who have jumped on board to support the cause. Vision Clinic has actively participated with Optometry Giving Sight since the beginning and we now do an annual 5K run for the World Sight Day Challenge. I am so thankful and blessed to have such a benevolent team to work with every day.
