MDeyes was formulated in response to the findings of the comprehensive clinical research of the Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2 (AREDS 2). MDeyes delivers an AREDS 2 formula in a ONCE DAILY soft gel capsule. AREDS 2: Refining the original AREDS formula. The original AREDS research published in 2001 examined the role of nutritional supplementation in eye health. This landmark clinical study reported positive results for the specific daily supplementation of 500 mg vitamin C, 400 iu vitamin E, 15 mg beta-carotene, 2 mg copper, and 80mg Zinc. In 2013, the results of the important follow-up study, AREDS 2, were published. This study, which cost $200million USD, investigated whether the original AREDS formulation could be improved by adjusting the ingredients. Four major variables were considered: adding Lutein and Zeaxanthin; adding omega-3 fatty acids; removing beta-carotene; or reducing Zinc; as well as combinations of these variables.
