In your practice

There are two primary ways that optometrists can incorporate Optometry Giving Sight into their practices in the United States. You can choose to make a regular donation and / or you can enroll in our flagship fundraising Practice Giving Program.

The concept of Practice Giving is simple. Participating practices invite their patients to make a small donation to Optometry Giving Sight when they come into the office for their regular appointments. This donation can be as little as a few dollars – and can be added to a patient’s invoice.

A number of Practices are also matching their patients’ donations. Matching a portion or all of a contribution shows your patients that you believe in Optometry Giving Sight and makes asking them easy. By inviting them to add a small amount to their bills, you are providing patients with the opportunity to help to change the life of someone who is needlessly blind or visually impaired. Early results from the program show that the response from both patients and staff has been overwhelmingly positive.

Our National Platinum Sponsor Vision Source has enthusiastically committed to encouraging its 2,700 optometrists and a similar number of support staff in its 1,400 practices to implement the Practice Giving Program and/or make a regular, tax deductible donation. They have also agreed to carry the Optometry Giving Sight message to hundreds of thousands of people who seek vision care at Vision Source practices.

All optometrists in the United States are invited to support Optometry Giving Sight in their practices. For further information please contact us.

Your Practice’s contributions, combined with those from thousands of other practices around the world, have the potential to make a significant difference in the lives of millions of people with uncorrected refractive error.

If you are already a participant in the Practice Giving Program you can order additional posters, patient information sheets, leaflets, newsletters, DVDs here.

There are more than 36,000 optometrists in the United States who see more than 85 million patients each year. A donation of just a few dollars from each doctor and their patient has the potential to make a significant difference in the lives of millions of people who are who are blind or visually impaired simply because they don’t have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses.
