Dr. Geering Matheson

It’s cold up in Juneau, Alaska, this time of year—but not in the hearts of Dr. Geering Matheson’s patients. Each is asked to make a small donation to Optometry Giving Sight, and Dr. Geering Matheson generously matches these donations dollar for dollar. Her patients donated $811 in the first three months alone of Practice Giving.

Dr. Geering Matheson says, “I had a patient yesterday thank me for offering the Optometry Giving Sight program and giving her an opportunity to support people in need. My patients with moderate and large refractive errors can’t imagine what their lives would be like if they didn’t have corrective lenses. We take glasses and contact lenses for granted here in the United States."

85 CENTS ON EVERY DOLLAR YOU GIVE GOES TO PROJECTS

Funds donated by corporate sponsors are used to support our costs of administration, marketing, fundraising, community education as well as projects which restore sight to people who are needlessly blind. This ensures Optometry Giving Sight can guarantee that a minimum of 85 cents of every dollar raised from optometrists and their patients is directed towards the elimination of uncorrected refractive error and helping those with permanent low vision.
