Education Bicycling Event to Benefit
Optometry Giving Sight.
Imagine bicycling through beautiful Napa Valley, California with some of your best friends, the wine country as your backdrop, picturesque mountains, vineyards, olive trees, redwoods, manzanitas, eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary, all the while raising money for a great cause.
Cycle for Sight 2008 is an exciting and fun way to give something back. By participating you will be assisting Optometry Giving Sight, an organization established in 2003 to address the needs of the 300 million men, women and children around the world who are blind or vision impaired simply because they don’t have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses.
Please join us for:
- 5 days of bicycling through beautiful Napa Valley, California
- Visit 3 different wineries for wine tasting each day - with fully catered lunch
included at second winery - 2 ride options each day
- Easy 10 – 15 mile route at leisurely pace designed for the tourist,
or a longer 35 – 40 mile route at a faster pace for the serious rider - The two groups meet at second vineyard for lunch and complete the day’s ride together
- 5 hours of COPE CE (1 hour each day prior to the day’s ride)
- Bikes, helmets, water bottles and t-shirts included
- All rides fully supported by a ride leader and accompanying van
Cost - each participant will be responsible for:
- Ride registration - $900 (Includes 5 days of fully supported riding, bike, helmet, water bottle,
t-shirt, visits to 3 different wineries each ride day (wine tasting included), fully catered lunch each ride day, guide gratuity, and 5 hours COPE CE) - Round-trip airfare to San Francisco (SFO) or Oakland (OAK) airport
- Transportation to and from hotel (Embassy Suites Napa Valley)
- Airport Transfers - $45 each way.
- Hotel room @ $184/night plus + plus 12% hotel tax (plus any incidental room expenses)
- All non-included meals (see agenda below)
In addition, each participant will be required to raise a minimum of $1,000 for Optometry Giving Sight. You can do this by raising funds in your own practice / inviting your colleagues to sponsor your ride / or you can simply donate this amount. All donations to Optometry Giving Sight are tax deductible.
