The Canadian Association of Optometrists
In January 2005, the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) designated Optometry Giving Sight as their International Charity of Choice. This endorsement has been key to growing OGS support in Canada and we are truly grateful. The CAO continues to provide OGS with extensive in-kind support in the form of mailings, article placement in the Canadian Journal of Optometry, administrative support, assistance with incorporation and other items.
As of July 2007, the CAO has become a National Silver In Kind Sponsor.
Provincial Associations
OGS appreciates the strong support it has received in the past and continues to receive from many provincial associations such as a donation tick box on the annual dues invoices, agenda time at provincial conventions and article placement in provincial newsletters and on Web sites.
Alberta Association of Optometrists
In March the Alberta Association of Optometrists (AAO), passed the
following resolution:
"Optometry Giving Sight is endorsed by the Alberta Association of Optometrists as their International Charity of Choice; and that all Alberta Association of Optometrists members are urged to contribute to Optometry Giving Sight efforts through monetary donations and participation in the Practice Giving Program."
AAO members have been early supporters of Optometry Giving Sight and lead the nation in their level of financial participation.
Almost 40% of AAO members, "Ticked Yes for OGS" at the time of their 2007 AAO dues invoicing, raising almost $27,000 for the campaign against uncorrected refractive error.
