Two major Australian optometric groups join Optometry Giving Sight
The two major independent Australian optometric groups ProVision Eyecare Network and Eyecare Plus have officially endorsed Optometry Giving Sight as each groups’ official charity of choice. The leadership that Micheal Knipe, Pauline Powell and Tony Hanks have demonstrated ensures that nearly 500 practices across Australia will be involved in contributing to benefit the many millions of people who are needlessly blind or living with impaired vision throughout the world.
ProVision
ProVision optometrists collectively form the largest network of independent optometry practices in Australia, with over 400 practices nationally. ProVision optometrists own their practices so they share a commitment to patient care and clinical excellence.
Chairman of ProVision Eyecare Network Micheal Knipe stated, “ProVision is proud to endorse Optometry Giving Sight as its official charity. Optometry has a critical role to play in blindness prevention and ProVision is committed to creating a lasting impact through our support for this important global initiative.”
Chief Executive of ProVision Eyecare Network Pauline Powell who, over the past two years, has played a pivotal role in organising ProVision teams to help in Timor stated “ProVision optometrists have made a profound difference to the lives of many Timorese people…we are delighted to expand our commitment.”
Eyecare Plus
Eyecare Plus is a cooperating group of optometrists in independent full-service practices around Australia. Working together as non-competing colleagues, their goal is to provide the very best in professional eyecare and service.
The company is owned by its members and provides them with the tools to develop a successful business, while also maintaining excellence and independence in clinical practice. As part of the optometric profession, Eyecare Plus Limited endeavors to treat all other like-minded groups as colleagues and is proud to have selected Optometry Giving Sight as their official charity.
Chairman of Eyecare Plus Dr. Tony Hanks added, “Eyecare Plus is delighted to place the resources of the group behind this extraordinary effort to tackle the tragedy of preventable and avoidable blindness. It is unacceptable that the vast majority of the world’s visually impaired are visually impaired due to an instantly correctable condition: the simple need for a pair of glasses.”
Optometry Giving Sight invites all optometrists to support blindness and visual impairment prevention and the development of vision care programs to countries in need.
