It's a beautiful world - if you can see it

How you can give sight!

Welcome and thank you for visiting us.

Optometry Giving Sight is dedicated to helping the 1.35 billion people around the world who are needlessly blind or vision impaired, simply because they don’t have access to an eye exam and glasses.

In fact, we are the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error.

Optometry Giving Sight has worked to provide basic eye care services to over 7.6 million people, trained more than 14,000 eye care professionals, supported the establishment of 133 vision centers and funded the establishment of 11 Schools of Optometry in emerging countries.

Alyssa is but one of the millions of people that we have helped whose life has been transformed by proper eye care.

Alyssa, lives in a rural village in Mexico. For years she struggled with poor eyesight which affected her everyday life during school, at home and play.

“I didn’t know what was wrong with me,” says Alyssa. Her mother Emelia worried about Alyssa’s future, “I felt helpless because I wanted to give her the best but I don’t have the resources to do it and I felt awful.”

A local NGO supported by Optometry Giving Sight visited Alyssa’s school, she was given a free eye exam and a pair prescription glasses. With this help Alyssa’s world changed forever.

“I want to say that I’m very thankful for my eyeglasses and everything that was wrong, is now in the past," said Alyssa with a wide smile. "Nothing can stop me now.”

We can do more to help those in need and you are the key to making that possible.

You can help by donating today.

Your donations allow us to fund programs that are sustainable and help train local people to become optometrists and optometric technicians. To date, we have supported 72 projects in 38 countries.

Thank you!
