55 golfers were treated to an unusually beautiful day for their annual fundraising round at Moss Vale Golf Club, with the event generating just over $5,000 for Optometry Giving Sight.
The event was made possible through the support of industry sponsors - Optique Line, Hoya, Rodenstock and Essilor came in at Gold level and Investec Experien, Mimo, and Designs for Vision at Silver. BOC and L’amy pitched in at Bronze with mivision, Insight and OAA as sponsors in kind.
The Men's Winner (AGU) was Robert Kyriacou, brother of optometrist Andrew Kyriacou from Figtree Eyecare and the Men's Winner (Social) was Mimo’s Lionel Minter.
Nearest to Pin shots were achieved by Dan Macnamara, son of Vision Care’s Barry Macnamara, on the 5th, Cooper Vision’s Paul Churchill on the 13th and Mona Vale optometrist Peter Ramalli on the 16th. Long time Golf Day regular Daryl Robertson won the Drive and Pitch and Stuart Rook from Allens Vision & Hearing, Revesby achieved the Longest Drive.
Robyn Burgess won the ladies competition for the second year in a row with Vicki Robertson coming in second.
Optometry Giving Sight Ambassador and cricket legend, Geoff ‘Henry’ Lawson joined the players on the course and spoke about his involvement with Optometry Giving Sight during the lunch. The money raised will help Optometry Giving Sight fund sustainable programs that give eye exams and glasses to people in need.
“Thank you to everyone who attended,” commented Ron Baroni from Optometry Giving Sight. “Once again Tim McKinnon and Andrew Mrakovcic did a fantastic job organising a great day and I thank them for their continued dedication to this event. It is superb to have so much industry support for the day and I must also thank our generous sponsors for their contributions.”
