Product Related Giving
Product Related Giving is a great way of raising the profile of optometry and your practice in your community while giving sight – and hope – to people in need.
Simply donate a set amount from the sale of every pair of glasses, frames, contact lenses or another item you choose.
Most practices are choosing $2-$5 / ₤1-₤2.50 per item, although some are donating more!
We will provide display materials for your practice to highlight your involvement in reducing global blindness to your staff and patients including:
- Posters and Counter Cards including one of the following statements:
- This practice donates $2 / ₤1 for every frame (or agreed item) purchased
- This practice donates $5 / ₤2 for every frame (or agreed item) purchased
- Please consider making a donation today
- Practices that donate $100 / ₤50 per month can be provided with custom made materials including the practice name and logo.
- Optometry Giving Sight brochures
- Donation box/tin with brochure holder (on request)
- Template press release for you to send to your local newspaper highlighting your practice’s involvement in funding programs to provide eye care to the developing world.

Frequently Asked Questions About Product Related Giving
How do I track the number of donations made to Optometry Giving Sight?
Some practices may choose to modify their existing payment software to incorporate payment to Optometry Giving Sight as a payment item. This means your accountant can reconcile the donation automatically.
Other practices may choose to track their donations manually using the Optometry Giving Sight Remittance Form, which will be sent to you.
It can be as easy as this example:
- 102 frames sold X $5 per frame = $510 donation to Optometry Giving Sight.
- Send check or remit online
- Optometry giving sight will send you a tax deductible receipt
What if our practice simply wants to collect donations using a donation box?
We are able to provide donation boxes to practice that are participating in one of the following ways:
- The optometrists or the practice is a current donor to Optometry Giving Sight.
- The practice is involved in a Practice Giving Program either;
- Product Related Donation
- World Sight Day Challenge
Can I do Product Related Giving and take part in the World Sight Day Challenge?
Yes! Many practices make Product Related Donations throughout the year and take part in the World Sight Day Challenge in October as well.

What if the practice or a patient wants to do a special event?
We are pleased to encourage such activities but hope that they are in addition to their participation in the Practice Giving Program or to a donation they have already made.
