A lot has happened in the 2 short years since Optometry Giving Sight has been actively fundraising in Australia, the U.K., the U.S. and Canada – and we have been piloting a number of fundraising programs to determine which is the most convenient and appealing for optometrists and their staff.

We plan to continue to research our fundraising and communications efforts with you – our donors – to ensure that we are making it as easy as possible for you to adopt us as your International Charity of Choice.

The key message from many of you is that you are looking for a quick and efficient way of showing your support – and that you are also keen to hear of any new initiatives to engage your staff and patients.

That is why we are now inviting each and every one of you, as a first step, to become regular donors to Optometry Giving Sight by making a monthly donation of $100 per month.

A regular donation is the simplest and most cost-effective means of showing your support – and ensures that the maximum amount of your donation is directed to people in need.

Here’s a simple table to demonstrate what we mean. Remember, it costs just $5 to provide access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses to a person in a developing country.

Of course you may choose a different donation level (this could be higher or lower) or to make your donation annually. The important thing is that you make your commitment today – and that you choose to make it a recurring gift.

You will see elsewhere examples of where optometrists have made this commitment and the impact that it is having on our ability to fund programs that are providing access to eye health services for people in need.

Once you have made your regular leadership donation to Optometry Giving Sight, you might then like to consider involving your practice and patients. We call this the Practice Giving program and there are opportunities for inviting patient donations; making product related donations and/or participating in special promotions such as our World Sight Day Challenge.

So please click here and become a regular donor today. If you are already a donor, please pass this information to one of your colleagues with your endorsement and encourage them to sign up as well.

And remember, even your patients can become regular donors. See our patient leaflet for more information - these are provided to you with your Practice Giving or Regular Giving Kits and you can order more at any time.
