Texas O.D. Moes Nasser describes his trip to Africa as life transforming!

Vision Source Optometrist Dr. Moes Nasser from Houston, Texas recently traveled to Uganda to see first hand how his donations are helping to give sight – and hope – to people in need.

Dr. Nasser, who was born in Tanzania, visited an Optometry Giving Sight funded project in the Busoga region of eastern Uganda, to help screen and assess local children and to see how local staff are being trained to deliver sustainable and affordable vision care services.*

“I am grateful to the Vision Source Executive for selecting Optometry Giving Sight as the Vision Source International Charity of Choice,” said Dr. Nasser. “This was the right decision. The work Optometry Giving Sight funds is outstanding.”

Dr Nasser spent 3 days in the region, working in schools with no electricity and few resources. Patients were lined up and waiting. He said he had never seen so many corneal opacities in his life. He also saw many cases of ocular disease caused by measles and malaria, cataracts and retinal anomalies.

Dr. Nasser described his short visit as incredible and life transforming and it has made him even more committed to raising funds in his practices to ensure that more children like “the boy at the window” have access to reliable and affordable vision care services. He will donate his eye exam fees to Optometry Giving Sight on World Sight Day and plans to involve his staff and patients
as well.

“Optometry Giving Sight is working to change lives,” said Dr. Nasser. “When you make a donation to Optometry Giving Sight—you give life changing sight.”
