Projects / Reports

Unfortunately there are millions of people in the world today with little or no access to eye examinations and glasses. In many countries around the world the infrastructure to provide eye care does not exist - there are not enough schools of optometry, education programs or optical personnel to reach the people in need.

In October 2007 Optometry Giving Sight announced the allocation of project funds for the next three years. The funds will support identified priority projects that will give sight to people with refractive error blindness and impaired vision in East Africa, South Africa, Sri Lanka and East Timor. Each project will undertake service delivery with a focus on local capacity building and infrastructure development to ensure that the provision of local eye care services is sustainable and affordable.
