Like some free publicity?

Use our template press release to tell your local community how you are helping to transform lives through the gift of vision by taking the World Sight Day Challenge (simply click on your country flag to download a localised copy). Companies can download the press release, fill in the gaps and send to their local newspaper. For more tips on how to get the most out of the press release download our guide (see table below).

Letting your employees know

Your employees will be interested to learn of your involvement in the World Sight Day Challenge. To help you share your news we have produced a template article that companies can download and insert in their company newsletter or intranet (see table below). Simply tailor it to your company and copy it into your next issue.

Ideas for a fun and easy staff event:

  • BBQ – Send out flyers to businesses within your complex or near your location and ask them to join in on this special occasion. Set a price, say $5 (or equivalent in your country) for a hot dog and can of soft drink. The company pays for the food.
  • Run a raffle – Ask suppliers within your business to donate a prize that you can use in your raffle. Put together a raffle ticket book – to save on cost use the photocopier to print the books and staff in office to help put the books together. It doesn’t take long! Offer each person in the company a book to sell of 10 tickets = $20 a book. As an incentive you can give 2 Gold Class movie tickets to the person who sells the most books. Remember all prizes are donated so it is 100% profit to Optometry Giving Sight.
  • Sweets in a Jar Guessing Competition - Fill a jar with either jellybeans, M&M’s or other small sweets. Guess how many are in the jar – first determine the cost per guess e.g. $1 a guess. The closet guess wins the jar and its full contents.
