A. Project Funding

85% of every dollar raised from optometrists and their patients is directed to fund projects that help give sight to those most in need. Up to 15% of the funds raised are used to support our operations including administration, marketing, fundraising and community education.

50% of total funds raised from optometrists and their patients are directed to projects in refractive error and low vision that support the goals of VISION 2020 conducted by the founding partners IAPB, ICEE and WOF.

At least 35% of total funds raised from optometrists and their patients are allocated by the Optometry Giving Sight National Committee in each country to projects in refractive error and low vision that meet the guidelines for support of the goals of VISION 2020, in consultation with the Optometry Giving Sight Global Board.

Funds raised from Corporate Sponsorship are used to develop the organizational capacity of Optometry Giving Sight including our administration, marketing, fundraising and community education.

Optometry Giving Sight distributes project funding every 6 months. As at 31th October 2007, US$788,253 was available for distribution to projects. Of the US$788,253, US$50,974 (A$57,565) has been earmarked for eye care in East Timor by Optometry Giving Sight National Committee in Australia and the balance, US$737,279 will be provided to the three Optometry Giving Sight Priority Projects:
